Completely updated for 2008, this award-winning reference site is now faster, easier to use, and full of new content. The foundation of Britannica Online is the Encyclopaedia Britannica, the largest, most authoritative encyclopedia in the world. The database also includes:
- Discover America, with statistics and summary information for each state (as well as Discover Mexico & Discover Canada)
- World Atlas
- Merriam Webster Dictionary
- a video collection with thousands of short clips and extended play videos, browsable by topic
- news by New York Times Online and BBC News
- relevant, full text journal articles and a list of the web's best sites for each topic.

First search is a collection of databases free from the Illinois State Library.
Students are also encouraged to take advantage of the many free Chicago Public Library databases. Please note that a valid CPL library card is required to search their databases. Please see Ms. Brada if you would like to search while in SBHS library, but do not have your CPL card with you.
